<p style="text-align: center;"> </p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Hey folks! Welcome to the start of our weekly What We&#8217;re Reading series, a place for you to keep up with what our WellWire team is reading about on blogs and news sites across the Internet.</p>
<p>Halloween is less than a month away. Does your child seem to become a little monster during this time of candy overload? Well, researchers have found a possible explanation for this: when sugar is consumed more frequently during childhood it is <a title="Study links daily sweets for children to violence" href="http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5jL20Lw3ZEUC5EVRyplBcyfosJMQg" target="_self">associated with higher violent crime rates</a> in adulthood. Curb the sugar, curb the tiny criminal.</p>
<p>Hold the Canola please! <a title="The Inconvient Truth About Canola Oil." href="http://www.smallfootprintfamily.com/2009/09/25/the-inconvenient-truth-about-canola-oil/" target="_self">This article</a> on canola has concretely confirmed for me the ill-effects of this genetically modified oil marketed as &#8220;heart-healthy.&#8221; Switch your oil away from this inflammation causing GMO monster.</p>
<p><a title="Pregnancy Exercise" href="http://acsstransitions.com/main/?p=346" target="_self">Pregnancy Exercise</a> is a well done and informative 3 part series. It answers many of the questions mothers-to-be often have about safety and the correct way to exercise during each trimester.</p>
<p>There is a new anonymous posting project called <a title="Letters to My Body" href="http://www.letterstomybody.com/about-2/" target="_self">Letters to My Body</a>. This site posts the inner most thoughts, positive and negative, people my have about their bodies. There is comfort and relief in being able to share these deep-seeded and often emotionally charged beliefs of how we are constructed in flesh and blood.</p>
<p>The organization Food and Water Watch is having a party, and you&#8217;re invited! Its called <a title="Oktoberfish" href="http://www.foodandwaterwatch.org/fish/oktoberfish" target="_self">OktoberFish!</a> They&#8217;re have a <a title="Frugal Fish cooking contest" href="http://www.foodandwaterwatch.org/fish/seafood/frugal-fish/fish-recipe-contest" target="_self">Frugal Fish</a> cooking contest, yummy <a title="Cumin-Scented Pink Shrimp with Coconut Rice and Roasted Acorn Squash" href="http://www.foodandwaterwatch.org/fish/oktoberfish/cumin-scented-pink-shrimp-with-coconut-rice-and-roasted-acorn-squash#if-you-like-tuna">weekly recipes</a> from Chef Rocky Barnette, and an updated <a title="Smart Seafood Guide" href="http://www.foodandwaterwatch.org/fish/seafood/seafood-guide/SeafoodSubstitutionsNational.pdf" target="_self">sustainable fish</a> consumer&#8217;s guide.</p>
<p>What about you, read anything good lately?</p>
<p><p><a href="/authors/dr-gibran-ramos"><img class="alignleft" title="Gibran" src="http://www.wellwire.com/wp-content/uploads/authormugs/gibran.jpg" alt="Gibran" width="90" height="90" />Dr. Gibran Ramos</a> completed his six year training and internship in Naturopathic and Chinese Medicine at <a href="http://www.ncnm.edu/" target="_blank">National College of Natural Medicine</a>. Dr. Ramos helps patients transform their lives and optimize their well-being at a private practice in Portland, Oregon.</p>
<div style="clear: both; height: 15px;"></div>
